I decided to get crackin and figure out how to solve systems on my TI-89!
Of course I could have done this the traditional way just as well...
since x is already isolated in the second equation, plug it into the first and solve...
3(27y) - 5y = -12
81y - 5y = -12
76y = -12
y = -12/76 = -3/19
x = 27y = -81/19

3x - 5y = -12
x = 27y

3(27y) - 5y = -12
81y - 5y = -12
76y = -12
y = -3/19

57(x) +15 = -228
3x = -243
x=81/19

x= -81/19
y= -3/19
