You sure can, in fact prior to the typical hard drive being 10s (or 100s) of gigabytes large it was relatively common to backup to CD-Rs. If you're running Windows XP it recognizes CD-Rs without any special software, so it's as easy as putting a blank in the drive and moving the files you want to to the CD (Drag them while holding down the right mouse button and "drop" them onto the CD-R drive, then click on move) If you're not running XP then you'll need software to burn the CD and once you do you can delete the files from your computer.
Large files to look for to free up space are video files, audio files and graphic files (pictures.)
I hope this helps.

Yes.
As long as you have a CD writer drive installed.
Use Windows Explorer and right-click the files then use 'Send To...' to send them to the CD-RW drive. Then click on the drive and a prompt should tell you that there are files awaiting to be written to the disk.
Follow the instructions and they should be written to the CD. Then you can delete the origianls from your hard disk.
Hope this helps

Yes you can save your pictures on a CD disk, as for the games, if you don't use them you can uninstall them, but make sure you still have the original disk of the game if you decide to re-install it.
Games are applications files as oppose to pictures which are files.

As long as the drive is a CD-R drive, which can write to a blank disc, then sure, you can do it. If the drive is only a CD-ROM drive, then you can't use it to write to a blank disc. If you do plan to do this, be sure to buy good quality CD's, not bargain-bin ones. Good luck.
