I don't understand people. Why would you want the same people who are "losing millions of dollars of military funds," and are so "corrupt" that we are not providing adequate education - to provide the most important part of life, healthcare? Are you serious? So we put the politicians in control of our healthcare now?
What the U.N. Human Index Report doesn't tell you is the quality of "free" healthcare these countries are providing. Has anyone ever BEEN to a county hospital? It's dirty, the lines are long, the patients wait hours to be seen, and the care is substandard. This is what you want for everyone? Because this is EXACTLY what would happen if we put the government in control of our healthcare.
Say what you want, but private business works because companies know if you don't provide a good service, people won't spend money with them. For example...my previous health insurance sucked, so what did I do? Found a better health insurance that cost a little bit more! Wow, that's tough, huh?
As far as those who can’t afford health insurance, I don’t know what the answer is. As it stands right now, everyone seems to get taken care of pretty well. I know women who had children and didn’t have to pay anything because they were on Medicaid. As long as you’re able bodied, I think you should have to pay some of that back because that is only fair.

If private organizations weren't so greedy, we would not have this problem. I was in the hospital recently and was charged $75. for rubber gloves, though they only used 6! I know for a fact they cost $8 retail for 100! Or how about $8. for a single Tylenol. Last I checked, a bottle of 100 costs $4.
If prices were calculated fairly, perhaps many more people could afford health care on their own.
PS I know what goes into running a hospital-I worked in hospital accounting for years...it doesn't have to be like that.
I find it funny and very sad that conservatives want to end abortion, and yet resent providing for social service programs for living children. I thought life was precious. Isn't that an odd problem. Is it that conservatives aren't prolife, but pro birth? Prolife indicates an understanding that there are basic things to which human beings are entitled-caring for their good health being one of them.

For the childrens sake ONLY to provide health care we can afford, I feel when Americans file their income taxes that the income made by the individual/married/hoh- filers should reflect a say 'credit' for the taxpayer with children.
Say, income of yearly:
Below 5,000 $ 1,000 credit yearly per child
5,001-10,000 900 credit yearly per child
10,001-15,000 800 credit yearly per child
15,001-20,000 700 credit yearly per child
20,001-25,000 600 credit yearly per child
25,001-30,000 500 credit yearly per child
30,001-35,000 400 credit yearly per child
35,001-40,000 300 credit yearly per child
40,001-45,000 200 credit yearly per child
45,001-50,000 100 credit yearly per child
50,001-and above 0 credit yearly per child
credit 'vouchers' like debit cards issued to be used at doctors offices, dentist etc. balances not to be carried to the next year.
Funding for the vouchers to be made with the taxes collected from the individuals with the higher income brackets-if a few dollars per each of the paying filers was put into this fund I feel it would work. Over the credit vouchers limits per year, would be out of pocket, hospitalizations would also be paid by the taxpayers eligible at a percentage cost based on their incomes as filed with irs. Don't file taxes, don't get vouchers.....

Democrats should not take money from the government for political purposes by giving it to others who are supposed to work for the economy and not just waiting for support.

we can have the free health care and everyone pay less taxes if we reallocate what we do with money and stop wasting it, like the millions the military in this country can not account for, to use one example.
we are seventh in the world when it comes to health care - check the U.n. Human Index report - seventh in educational opportunities, and seventh in adjusted real income and yet more money passes through the hands of our government than any other. It is our corruption which has to be changed, not our policy as to charity or not!!

I think it's sad that regarding healthcare America is near the bottom of the food chain when compared to other countries.
We're supposed to be the wealthiest but our children die because they can't afford a stupid antibiotic.
Make healthcare affordable is all most people are asking.

I'm sick and tired of 50% of my tax dollars going to hand-out programs. If we could ever get the PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS to slowly retract the giveaways, maybe we could reverse the trend.Maybe we should all just "quit paying our taxes",and maybe they would take the hint!!
