According to an article I just read on Yahoo News, Oprah had, as guests on her show, the parents of the little boy who was abducted from his bus stop recently. Experts, authorities, professionals all have publicly enlightened us to know that the BEST THING FOR THE BOYS ABDUCTED is to let them speak in their own time about what abuses they suffered at the hands of their captor.

These boys have been through so much. We all imagine. We all wonder. We all know, deep in our hearts, what terrors the boys must have faced.

Yet, Oprah still asked the parents if they thought their son had been molested.

According to the article I read, they nodded yes.

What was the purpose of that question? There is none. I think Oprah stepped over the line and because she is such a huge public figure I think she owes them an apology.

Pretty soon we'll have to call her Oprah Springer.

I also agree with several posters who urge to hold the parents accountable for even going on the show in the first place. It does not seem like they are seeking publicity as a means of helping their son. I am not sure what their motivation might be. It's a curious situation.

And I also agree with the idiot who used the tired old "three fingers pointing back" cliche....but not in this case. There is no similarity whatsoever between a media giant and little ol' me! I wish. I'm not "pointing a finger." I observed, I had an opinion about an action and I had a reaction.

I really appreciate the people who didn't jump at the chance to make a stupid or nasty comment and who, instead, gave me their opinion. Thanks to those who did!

It seems like Oprah will do anything for ratings, but no one forced those families to be on the show.

I think so, too. What happened to those boys is not for public viewing. That should be between them, their parents and a therapist if they have one. It should not be broadcast over public television. It's on a need to know basis and as far as I'm concerned, Oprah nor anyone else does not need to know.

Yeah, she went over the line. She should NOT have even considered an interview until the court trial was over. She didn't seem to consider that the interview could damage the testimony of Shawn, and that anything in her interview could be used by the defense. This was a ratings ploy, and was unnecessary.

I think the media frenzy over this type of thing is the reason kids hesitate to come forward after they get abducted. If being raped or molested isn't humiliating enough, they put it on the 6 o'clock news and the kids have little or no control over it.

In my opinion when ever someone takes the time and effort to put someone else down , it just shows that they
are insecure themselves . When I point the finger at another person there are three pointing back at me .

Nobody forced the parents to go on that show. And she wasn't questioning the kid. What do the "experts" say about when it's OK to interview the parents?

It is called ratings and unlike half of the population of the world I do not think Oprah is half as intellegent as people like to think she is. I personally think she is WAY over rated and does things that even she knows better than to do

Miss O has let fame and fortune go to her head, big time. Someone or something needs to happen to her to let some of the hot air out of her.

they nodded because she asked "do you think shawn was molested" and they said yes. but Oprah never asked shawn if he was molested. it was a very respected interview. nothing was prying.
