After watching him play against the Lakers (as well as many of his other games this season) I've come to the conclusion that he's possibly the most overrated player in the league. Sure he makes the highlight reels every now and then. Sure he makes a couple of trick shots. BUT, that's not worthy of the praise that he gets. The press makes this guy sound like the next Jordan!

When the Spurs played the Lakers 2 days ago, he made THE dumbest turnovers I've seen all season. My favorite, towards the end of the game when his team needed the ball the most he tried to make a no look pass and ended up passing it to a Lakers player. WTF was that? I mean, he's no Steve Nash and when your team is in that situation you go for the safe bucket, not a pass that has like 25% of hitting its target. I can go on more, but you get the picture. I think M. Ginobili is way to inconsistent to be getting as much credit as he gets.

Anyone else think that this guy is way too overrated?

PS. I'm not trying to go all out and trash his game, I think he's a good player. But I also think that he gets way too much credit. For example, Baron Davis is a better guard than Ginobili but he gets little or no credit at all.

Also, if some of you wouldn't mind adding who you think the most overrated player is, please add. Thanks.

Well, I never said that he was compared to Jordan, but when they describe Ginobili they make it sound like he's a legend. If you never watched a single basketball game and listened to what the analysts have to say, you'd think that Ginobili is the MVP or something.

"I dont know who told u he was the next jordan"

Please REREAD the description and additonal comments. I NEVER SAID THAT SOMEONE SAID THAT HE'S THE NEXT JORDAN. I simply said that the commentators make him sound like the next Jordan with the fancy words they use to describe him.

I agree with you. Manu is really good, but I think he is getting a lot of hype becuase he is on a "likeable" team. None of the Spurs have visible tatoos, they don't get technicals (or don't gt called for them), and they play the game "the right way" (whatever the hell that is). They are for the most part reminiscent of what the NBA used to be as far as style of play and the demeanor of the players. When the media likes you, they'll hype you up and have a tendency to make you look much better than you really are. A classic case would be J.J Reddick from Duke. Keyword is "Duke". They are mainstream Americas favorite team. But look at J.J. He's 6'4, slow, not athletic at all, can pass all that well, can't handle the ball and sure as hell can't defend anyone. But he can shoot. Because the media loved Duke and pumped him up so much, Orlando got suckered into drafting the next "Trajan Langdon" who was another shoot-the-lights-out Duke NBA bust that had all the same lack of ability that J.J has. Its just the media making them look good. I think Manu is a great player but I think he gets a little to much hype for what Ive seen him do. By the way, I am a die hard Spurs fan.

Well he is definitely a top 10 even though he ain't the starter of his team, but he isn't top 5 IMO... Well he would have been a better player if he started his career earlier and being a starter not the 6thman however Roy, Allen and JJ are still better than him..... that's just the way it is. 1. Dwyane Wade 2. Kobe Bryant 3. Brandon Roy 4. Ray Allen 5. Joe Johnson 6. Vince Carter (Where is him anyway?) 7. Manu Ginobili 8. Rip Hamilton 9. Michael Redd 10. Kevin Martin I don't put OJ Mayo because he has been an NBA player only for 1 season, still too early to put him, we don't know yet if he can play consistently like what he did last season, after he can put up big numbers like what he did last season for at least 3 seasons, then I would put him.

I really don't think Ginobili is overrated. He doesn't get that much praise from other coaches and media right now. All the comments that people made was based on how he single-handedly rip-open the Pistons' Defense 2 seasons ago.

Actually, I was pretty dissapointed with Manu. His career were going downhill after he won the 2nd championship with the spurs.

Manu got popular after doing great in the NBA Finals a couple years ago. He doesn't get that much attention, but still get a decent amount. He's a pretty good player, but I wudn't say one of the most overrated in the league.

you absolutely right they make him sound like he is the best player in the league and when he doesn't have a good game, like most of them, the commentator says that he having an off night when it actually his average game, or they might start talking about the old times where he okay in the past

i hate it when the compare him to Jordon, Pat Riley was talking about Kobe and he said that he has become such a better player since he started to pass more and he thinks he a great player but nothing compared to Jordon, so how do you compare manu Ginobili to Jordon

He's a good player, but a major flopper, just like Vlade Divac was.
