3 to the 4th power is 81 (3x3x3x3 or 9x9)
81x2=243
Divide by 81 (x squared=3)
x= radical 3 (which is about 1.73)

a radical (the square root sign) is the best way to get rid of a 2nd power)

I'm having a hard time reading your problem. Is it

3(x^4 + x^2) = 243?

If you can write it a bit more clearly, I can probably help you.
