A while back I hada really odd dream. In the dream, I guess a volcano had erupted or something because it began with my sister and me running from lava on the second floor of my house. (It may not sound weird, but pay attention: it gets weirder) As we were running, a weird old lady who was standing in the doorway of my sister's bathroom (which, ironically, is outside my room, so the bathroom SHOULD be in MY domain) dropped paper dolls into the lava. (See? I told you it gets weirder.) My sister and I thrust open my dad's bedroom door, shut it, and jumped onto the bed. The dream ended with my sister and I screaming, the lava about to burst through the door.

Let me point out that:
Th lava was only on that floor, which normally would be physically impossible since the floor would have huge hole in it and it should have also been on the ground floor, but it IS a dream, after all.
The volcano wasn't actually in the dream, if therewas one.
Nothing was on fire.

I don't get this dream!

Also, I had this dream when I was in 3rd or 4th grade when I had NO idea what anything about sex or anything was. I don't even think I'd ever heard anything relating to the subject at that time. I'm not stating my age, but I will tell that it was many years ago, and that I'm not yet old enough to take on the responsibilities of living either on my own or having a family, etc. Also, I hate my sister (and vice versa).

And, tysavage2001, I did not make any mention to a witch. I specifically stated the highly technical (okay, not at all technical) term "weird old lady".

Volcanic eruptions in dreams usually represent our erupting emotions. Feelings that you may be harboring during the day might take the form of a volcanic eruption in a dream state. The unconscious psyche might be releasing positive or negative feelings in a safety of a dream. (E.g. Strong sexual feelings, passion, anger, rage, and fear.)

It involves your sister .. you have a bedroom and a bathroom in the dream .. and you use the word "thrust" .. the lava is symbolic for "heat" ... Sounds like a dream with sexual overtones. You don't state your age, but perhaps you are about to "burst" into adulthood and you are bursting into manhood. The lava could represent your own inner "heat/desire" for women .. or the warmth that a woman's body provides. Or, it could mean nothing and just be a silly dream. (The Witch could represent guilt .. or concerns .. or warning you ... to not grow up ... to stay in your childhood / innocent ways. ) Good Luck! :)
Sorry about my error with the "old lady" or whatever .. it would have been helpful if you had said up front that you were only 9 years old when you had this dream .. 8 or 9 years old. That changes everything.

At the time, you would have seen the world as a vast, powerful and potentially life-threatening place. When you first learned about volcanoes, that imagery became related to "horrible things that can happen to you." The lava in the house means that horrible things can happen to you in you life. The old lady represents your distrust of adults, maybe even of adult family members. Her act signifies that you didn't trust adults to look out for your interests, they might cast you into the fire. These are common childhood fears. When the real world proves otherwise, over time these fears go away. If the real world validates these themes, the dreams can recur.

First of all, dreams have symbols, and you can't look at dream literally. Your mind made some items to be symbols. It is no exception in your case

Erupting volcano = fear, problem, difficulties
lava = continuous problems
old lady dropped papers dolls into lava = way to avoid or face problems
Open dad's door and shut and jumped onto bed = seeking for protection

There are some problems or fear in your life that you have once held for long time and finally came through your life and you are seeking for protection (go to your dad's room) and support. The old lady in your dream symbolizes way to face problems. You probably found no way to face it, so project a weird lady to drop a paper doll may seem to be a childish way to fix a problem. As a matter of fact, it symbolizes your helpless conscience. There are things that are out of your control.

In conclusion, you may be experiencing something that is not under your control and your dad or anyone you respect may be your support after all, however, that is your final resource. Whether or not you got help, you end up having fear in your subconscious mind because you feel like unable to handle it by yourself or by your support after all.
