Y is it that most of the portuguese people that i have met only like to associate with themselves. Then when u try and have a conversation with them they are always talking about portugal. I have nothing wrong with them being from protugal, but its very annoying. For goodness sakes, we are in America, not Portugal. Also, they are rude, they interrupt conversations and what not. Some hispanics are the same way too. WHY???

Maybe because you keep making generalizations about their ethnic group.

Did you ever think that your limited experience does not reflect the whole community?

Not just Portuguese, but to Spaniards, French, Arabs, and the majority of Latin Americans, interrupting is NOT rude -- in fact, it's actually a good sign when someone interrupts you: that means that they're intersted in your conversation. It's a hard concept for many Americans to get used to, but that's how it is.

I notice this in the hispanic community but I don't see it as being rude. I see it as a cultural thing. Many hispanics tend to interrupt one another, in a non offensive way, and like to talk about their countries. Puerto Ricans about PR, Mexicans about MX and so on.
