I can't wear top liner or eyeshadow because after an hour or so the oils in my eyelids make it all, for a lack of a better word, nasty. I end up with color in the crease of my eyelid. It's very unbecoming and makes it very hard for me to wear stage makeup when I want/need to act. So if any one has any suggestions I'll give them a try! I don't mind if I sounds bizarre, as long as it's very cheap and works!

Something that worked for me was that i apply my foundation, a powder one, even over my eyelids. That will soak up the oil. Then i apply my eye shadow. One brand of makeup that doesnt crease and get oily i found works good is Physicians Formula. You can find this at Wal Mart.

Pretty good makeup at a fair price!

Hey, Babe(: . Having oily eyelids isn't uncommon, though it can be embarrassing & frustrating. For women with eyelids that tend to be oily, it might be difficult to wear eye makeup since it comes off easily or becomes creased. Even if you just washed your face, within an hour or two your eyelids are oily again & very shiny. Luckily, there are a few simple things you can do to correct this problem. - Wash your face as you normally do with your preferred face wash. Pat dry with a cotton towel, being sure to gently blot your eyelids. Cotton towels absorb more water & moisture than synthetic fiber towels. -Taking a clean cotton ball, wet it lightly with Witch Hazel. Since Witch Hazel contains tannins, it acts as a natural astringent helping to tighten pores which reduces oil on your eyelids safely & gently. Close your eyes & gently wipe your eyelids. Keep your eyes closed while it dries. -Take another clean cotton ball & moisten it with the Milk of Magnesia. The magnesium in this product will help absorb oil & also tighten pores to help reduce oil output. You don't want the cotton ball dripping, just a little more than damp. Close your eyes & sweep the cotton ball over your eyelids. Keep your eyes closed while it dries. You may feel a pulling sensation as it tightens your pores & dries the skin. -Apply your eye makeup as usual if you wear any, though you can also leave your eyes bare. You should find that your eyelids stay oil-free for several hours or even all day long. -There are eye makeup primers made to hold on eyeshadow & liner longer. You could give this a try as well, though they can be pricy. You don't have to wear makeup over these primers. Putting a heavy layer of Milk of Magnesia over your eyelids may result in the product flaking off. Just use a small amount & adjust over time until you find the right amount that works for you. -When using the Witch Hazel & Milk of Magnesia, be careful to avoid getting it in your eyes. If it does, rinse your eyes thoroughly with cool water for several minutes. -Etri<3

I'd first make sure you wash your eyelids throughly when you wash your face. Don't apply a moisturiser to them, rather use a mattifing gel. I find the best one is the Tea Tree Oil variety from the Body Shop.

Use powder eyeshadow as cream will just slide right off.

You could try using a light powder to soak up the oil before you use the makeup or maybe some tissue paper. I have kinda oily skin so i use the powder on my face it soaks up the oil during the day so i dont have to worry. :)

it might sound crazy but- foundation. my mom taught me this trick when i was little that if you put a little powder foundation on your eyelids before makeup, it will make them less oily and make a good base for eyeshadows. :]

blot your eyelids with rice paper (really cheap at drugstores) before you put on your eye makeup and then apply a thin layer of translucent makeup on your eye lid before you put on your actual make up.

use the Mary Kay oil mattifiers. then use coverstick and powder and then use eyeshadow and liner. the oil blotter things aren't too expensive and they work really well.
