A few years ago in my home town, a Chinese restaurant was inspected and they found cats and dogs hanging in their freezer. When questioned they said it was for their own consumption. How do we know we aren't eating the same thing? It's normal in their culture. I won't go to one anymore for fear of what I'm being served.

That's exactly why I stopped eating any Oriental food. I'm an animal-lover and a pet-sitter, and I do not tolerate animal cruelty with anyone. I think its inhumane and heinous to eat dogs and cats. They are supposed to be our best friends and our pets. A Chinese restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia a few years ago got shut down by the Health & Food Administration after a health inspector discovered the owner was serving cats and dogs to his customers. I don't know about any other Oriental establishments except that one.The problem is, we don't know. You can't tell the difference. That's why I've stopped eating their food and going to their restaurants.

i am not sure what they really serve up there in the states, but with strict govt regulation, i think they will not serve such when they claimed to be serving beef instead... but here in the asia.. yes, with lots of stray cats and stray dogs and the population do not really care what they eat as long as it brings forth to them some health benefits (dogs keeps u warm in winter, same as mutton), then its a different story.

i used to have a friend from the USA telling me he lived in an apartment right across a small restaurant in china and every morning he will wake up with the dogs crying bec they were all being beaten to death for consumption. He couldnt stand it bec he is a dog lover.

I've seen Internet photos of cats ,dogs and other animals after being prepared to serve. I think places like China and Asia routinely do this. I heard about one incident in Chicago where this was alledgedly being done, but the problem was supposedly dealt with. This was about ten years ago.

I absolutely DO NOT THINK that oriental - specifically Chinese restaurants will serve cats or dogs here in the States.

I think it's an absolutely ignorant notion and excuse me, it is not normal in the Chinese culture to eat cats and dogs. CHinese cuisine has exotic delicacies such as roast duck, maybe even go bolder with sharks fin and probably even snakes and crocs in SOutheast Asia which is horribly expensive but not cats and dogs.

Are you sure it's a Chinese restaurant and if so, are you sure the restaurant is actually owned by CHINESE people? I know Vietnamese people do eat dogs but absolutely not Chinese.

In the states, I don't think so. Is illegal. In Asia, many places do. It tasted ok as long as you don't know what it is. :)
