I feel like I've answered this SOO many times here for ignorant straight people. This is a pleasant change. We actually talked about this on a panel I was on, and I heard a couple different reasons.
The first and most obvious is that it is just natural for some people. Either they've always been like that, or they've always wanted to be but were "butching up" because they weren't yet out (and then when they were, the floodgates were opened...).
Some people take it on shortly after coming out just because they think they're "supposed to"; when they get out and see that there's a gay community (in some places, there really is; I swear!) that will welcome them with or without overdone manneurisms and an affectation of speech, most kind of abandon it.
Other people put it on sometimes just as a flag. Hey, I'm gay, just so y'know. In that context, it serves multiple functions; other single gay men know they can safely approach. It acts as a filter for people: homophobes tend to stay away. Even if they're giving you trouble, you at least know where you stand with them instead of investing in a friendship that was doomed from the start.
That's all I got.

there are lots of masculine gay adult males. we are actually not all effeminate, I advise, i'm not often effiminate. not all of the time besides. There are alot of adult males who're reli camp, yet assorted the time they only do it for interest or because of the fact they % an identity. assorted the time, in case you purely tell them to relax down and be clever, you'l discover they are purely as masculine as every person else.

I believe in most cases their behaviour is just natural for them. Unless someone is a drag queen, I don't see any motivations to purposely exaggerate femininity.
