NaOH + HCl --> NaCl + H20
so, you get the same amount of moles of each molecule.

1 mole of NaOH is (23+16+1=) 40g, so 4g is 0.1 mole.
1mole of HCl is (1+35.5=) 36.5g, so 4g is 0.11 mole
the smaller amt. is 0.1 mole, so we'll go with that, which means you'll end up with 0.1 mole of NaCl.
1 mole of NaCl would be (23+35.5=) 58.5g.
0.1x58.5 = *5.85g* and there's your answer!

NaOH + HCl => NaCl + H2O

the moles of NaOH 4 / 40 = 0.1
the moles of HCl 4 / 36.5 = 0.1095

since the moles of NaOH < HCl, then HCl will be excess

the moles of NaCl 0.1
mass : 0.1 * 58.5 = 5.85
