I had both of my hips replaced due to Arthritis and I am only 42 yrs old!
My suggestion would be to take Glucosomine. You can get it at any health food store or drug store. It is said to improve bone and cartilage damage in the majority of people who take it.
If you have access to a pool, ocean, etc., swimming is the best exercise possible.
If you have cramping while trying to sleep use an electric blanket under your fitted sheet (but keep on low). It worked wonders for me!!
Avoid any activities that cause your feet to have impact like jumping or landing on them. Try to avoid walking on concrete surfaces.
Hope this helps!

Some people will tell you to take motrin, wear a copper bracelet, etc.
The first thing you MUST do is find out which type of arthritis you or the person has (osteo or rheumatoid). You can only know this for certain by going to a doctor.
If you have osteo arthritis; I would recommend the following.
1. Take Glucomomine/Condroitin supplement.
2. Take Ibuprofen (advil, motrin, etc). Take it when the pain gets too intense. Taking excessive amounts of analgesics (nsaids) will damage the liver. All nsaids will help the pain; but ibuprofen has the ability to affect the inflamation in the joints.
3. Get an ointment with Capsaicin (SP) in it and apply to the joints. Capsaicin is found in peppers. many years ago; I made a mixture for my aunt to rub on her hands. I started with a quart of olive oil, and put about 4 ounces of Cayenne pepper in the bottle and set the bottle in a window then shook the bottle two or three times a day for about a week. then my Aunt would use that and massage it into her arthritic joints.

Imagine for a moment your arthritis completely vanishing right now.
If, in a moment, your pain and stiffness melted away. And your joints all of a sudden functioned like a well-oiled machine.
Like a magic wand was waived, you'd be able to jump up from your chair and run around the room like a kid.
And imagine that you'd never have to suffer as much as a pinch of arthritis stiffness or pain ever again.
I know this sounds impossible right now, but bear with me, because sometimes miracles happen.
It was a gift from a woman on the other side of the world. From the kindness of her heart, she took pity on my suffering and taught me how to completely reverse my arthritis.
Today, I want to do the same for you!

Metacam and Rymadal are usually prescribed by vets for arthritis. Unfortunately both of these medications can cause internal bleeding and they horrify me; however at the onset of pain they give relief. I think that you can get both of these medications on the Internet. My GSD was diagnosed with arthritis in her knees, she suffered from internal bleeding when she was prescribed Metacam, this was apparent when her stools became almost black. I investigated other meds on the internet and discovered Flexadin. It’s about £70 from the vets and £20 on the internet. It contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin which help enormously with pain and bone problems; however it also contains Devils Claw which also helps with pain. Later I accidentally discovered that Seraquin has other virtues because as well as the above stuff it also contains Turmeric, this is about £60 from the vets and £16 on the internet. I was told that it could take up to six weeks for either Flexadin or Saraquin to take effect. In my experience it acts more quickly.

The best thing for arthritis is shark cartilage - the brand I recommend is Benefin. If you can't find that brand, look for the brand with the greatest percentage of actual shark cartilage vs. filler substance. This is great - it reduces inflammation, relieves pain and helps with joint mobility. I highly recommend it. I have personally seen it do wonders!!!!!
