I dont know much about him. I know his full name is Akon Thiame and he is from Senegal, which is in Africa. I heard that he had nine wives but I dont know about that, even though that is common in the African culture.

He was born Aliaune Thiam in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew in Senegal, but eventually settled in New Jersey. His father is a jazz percussionist. In New Jersey he discovered music and crime. He was jailed, but worked on his music while in jail. He recorded tracks at home after being released. He was discovered by SRC/Universal and released his first album in 2004.
