There isn't a command, per se. Put XP into the CD drive and boot the computer up - when it asks to boot off of the CD, say yes and follow the on-screen instructions. When it asks you what volume you want to install on, follow the instructions to delete the volumes/partitions listed until you just have one empty one, and install onto that.

Hi. When you install XP you're given the opportunity to change the 'partitions' that are currently on the disc. One of these partitions will be the C: drive of your old Win 95 setup. This may or may not be the whole of the hard disk. You should be able to delete it and recreate a new partition in the XP format (NTFS). This partition could be the whole of your hard disk or less, depending upon what you want the size of your system disk to be.

I tend to recommend people to create a C: drive of about 20GB and the rest as a data drive, E: (D: is the CD/DVD) so if you ever have to reinstall onto C: all your data is stored on E: (as long as you've actually done that!).

Hope this helps :)

Go to command prompt (run cmd).
Type in "fdrive c:\"
only do this with the XP CD in the drive.
If you can, access dos from the XP Setup screen.
I think you have to hit f7 at each screen to reach it.

Use a low level format to clean out your hard drive, then reformat your hard drive with the simplest command format.com. Try researching low level format first.
