Redding California. It's north, yet still has the cali feel to it. ITs cheaper than most places in larger populated areas. There is also lots of stuff to do! Shasta Lake, Mt. Shasta, Redding Waterslides. It has all the perks of cali...but for a lot cheaper :D

"best" and "isn't really expensive" + in Cali. do not really fit together.
But what is considered "not expensive to you".
Something cheap in Los Angeles, may be considered expensive for someone in a small town in Alabama...

maybe fresno or bakersfield. fresno has had rapid house sales and the prices are increasing because all the bay and eastern people are moving here. but you can still find houses cheap enough that you can afford. bakersfield is probably dealing with the same problem.

southern has alot of more fun stuff such as sea world, disney land ect... but it gets very hot

i would suggest near sacermento...it is a nice place... vallejo has six flags marine world... vacaville has a ton of shopping.. dixon's a nice small town...napa's also nice... farefield is getto

the summers get hot though, last summer we had 5 days-straight of over 110 degrees
