Ok, my interests that I thought I would like to look into are:

- Archery
- Fencing
- Golf
- Capoeira

If anyone is currently involved in these sports, can you pease tell me what you like about them, how easy they are for a total beginner to pick up and any pros / cons you can think of.

Thanks guys

ok here is my take.

golf- great but frustrating sport, bonus you can do it yourself, bad, cost, green fees, clubs, balls etc. it is that one shot that keeps you going, not to mention if beginning it can be plent frustrating, i would suggest first you go to a golf driving range after borrowing a club and hit 50 balls and see if you still like it.

fenching- an option but finding a club will be tough, get for footwork and timing

archery- another option but can be a tad tricky to master, but you can practice by yourself and in your backyard if need be.

capoeira- looks cool, i gather you have classes and costs worked out

in any case go and have fun that is the aim of sport after all...

GOLF!!!!!!!!!!!! GOLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOLF!!!!!!!!!!!

What I like: Personally, it is therapeutic for me. I play golf, and for at least a few hours my mind is on NOTHING ELSE. No matter how stressed I am, golf can do the trick. Well, sometimes it makes me more stressed. :-) Tough sport for an absolute beginner, but the more you play the better you get.

Pros: Good exercise if you walk the course instead of riding a cart all the time ; develop good relationships (most high-level execs make all their business deals on the golf course) ; Challenging (can never "conquer" it - boring to watch to some but not boring when you PLAY)

Cons: Average round of play can take anywhere from 2 1/2 to 4 hours, depending whether you're walking or riding and how many patrons are on the course (so not a "quick" thing to do if you're pressed for time, unless you just play 9 holes maybe) ; expensive sport ; Once you play you'll become hooked, and you'll want to play every day - sunny days at WORK will have you walking around miserable all day

Do fencing, foil, it is the only sport in the world where women can compete on an equal basis with men, and actually have a physical advantage, in that the centre of gravity in the average female body is lower than that of the average man.

Its good exercise, and keeps the bum tight, gets rid of stress. The sport was developed with ballet, and is excellent for balance and coordination. However it has only one downside for you Girls, the learners start off with metal bra cups to protect your breasts, and they are cold, so I understand from the screams, most ladies who decide to take up the sport first buy a plastic breast plate, before any other kit.

I am into archery. It really isnt easy. It is skill. It also is not all that cheap either. But I do find it relaxing. Some places have video archery that is realistic. You might want to try that first to see if you like it. Then you can go to the pro shop and get fitted for the bow draw and poundage. Also arrow length.

I don't play any of these but i would choose golf. cool clothes, hot boys on the course and if you get really good you can make mad money. It's hard to learn but well worth it. if I had time for anything other then school and soccer i would totally play.

a con would be it's expencive. you need clubs and a course membership and lessons.

Golf is just drunken walking if you take away the ball...

Fencing seems a little too "French"...

Archery is cool only if you are hunting Liberals...

CAPOEIRA is the my choice because it's like break-dance fighting!

i have tried all of those, and i especially have liked capoeira and archery
