The fact that we're so obsessed with pleasing everybody. It's impossible to do and just aggravates an already bad situation. It's almost like society is starting to get the tiniest little cracks in it, but no one will do anything until all the tiny cracks become one huge canyon.

Great question, and a really tough one because the world is so different today than it was back then. I would think he might try to address the complicated tax codes and structures we have and get back to something that is more simple...something that regular every day people could understand and handle on their own. Being a lawyer, I'm sure he would probably be really interested in judicial reform too and would probably be appalled at how slow our judicial process works and how mucked up it is with frivolous lawsuits.

My guess is that he wouldn't do much of anything. Lincoln was a last minute candidate for the Republican Party because the two leading men in it, Steward and Stanton, hated each other. Lincoln was able to accomplish things in office because he had an obvious problem to solve. If he didn't have that, I'm guessing he would have been like Pres. Buchanan before him, a President who didn't do much of anything.

That's a really good question, and it's hard to answer because he'd be appalled at so many things that are going on today. My guess would be abortion. The taking of innocent life would probably piss him off even more than slavery did.
