Music can unite and it can divide. When music is categorized it often creates sections in society. There is a particular group thats into heavy metal, a particular group in funk, another into jazz, another into blues, another into rap. However, I've noticed that the Red Hot Chili Peppers have somethuing about them which makes them accessible to all people. Generally when you say to someone..."Do you like Red Hot Chili peppers', no matter what section of society they are from they usually say..."Yeah, they;re pretty cool." I think that music shoul unite. I think the RCHP's are good at doing that. Are there any other bands like that you know of?

i agree with you. all my friends including me like the chili peppers , though they arent my favourite band. i disagree with sleek and lol!?. though the bands they named are good, they dont cover all the genres. i cant recall any bands that are as extensive in covering as many genres as the chili peppers,although queen and led zeppelin cover about the same amount,but i can tell you that there are songs like 'imagine' by john lennon and 'stairway to heaven' in particular by led zeppelin that is popular with all of my friends, each with different tastes of music .i think what makes a good song is popularity through a long time, and the mentioned songs have certainly done that. under the bridge is an amazing song which fits into that category.

I can't name any that have sort of effect. Young and old, hip and dull, urban or suburban... few people really dislike RHCP. That's a good thing.

Gorillaz...they go through a lot of genres....like reggae,rock,hip-hop,dance...i love it...you should listen to them
