No, I am sorry, you cannot prevent a divorce in the US. It may seem unfair but the party who wants the divorce will get what they want in the end. The only thing the opposing party can do is to slow it down, make it difficult and expensive. That will only increase the animosity and the desire for the other person to get the divorce, increase the hostility and increase the drama.

It would be best for all involved, you, your ex and any kids, if instead of putting all your energy into opposing the divorce you get into counselling right away and learn how to deal with the inevitable end of your marriage. This is a new chapter in your life, a chance to start over, remake yourself and find new dreams.

Good luck.

That would be a contested divorce. Talk to an attorney. But if the other person (A) doesn't want to be with person (B) who wants to keep their life and home, why would person B want to be with A who doesn't want them anymore? That sounds selfish. If you are being abandoned and have your own attorney you may get the home.

Not really, when they are served they can either choose to answer and respond or not answer and respond. If they choose to not answer the person filing the divorce will automatically get a default decree of divorce and the person served will loose everything.

No, that's why either the husband or the wife sues their spouse for divorce. If either one refuses, it will probably be an ugly divorce though.

Laws vary by state. In FL you can divorce but if neither partner has another place to live they can't kick each other out.

No, it is decided by the court. In nearly every state your spouse is entitled to at least 50 percent of everything. Your only option is to cut the best deal you can.
