Celo you are right on most things and i understand your point i also am a spurs fan and still live in san antonio i was simply asking a question then superbear had to talk to me like i was retarded yes bowen was a good defender but he is aging and he is not getting any faster or stronger i think they need a fresh athletic player they can not beat the mavs or the suns like this and bowen forces himself on offense like last ight which makes me mad.

Ok man, you are entitled to your opinion, but as someone who grew up in San Antonio and is a major Spurs fan, here is my opinion:
Bowen is a fantastic perimeter defender and always draws the toughest assignment on whoever the Spurs play. True, he doesn't always shut them down, but he does affect their shooting percentages and wears them down. Also, he allows Manu and Parker and the other scorers to not have to defend those players, therefore allowing them to have more energy for the end of the game. He also shoots 45 percent from 3-point range. He's not meant to play a large role in the Spurs offense.
I do think the Spurs need to think about getting younger, but it's going to be hard to do. Finley and Horry don't have a lot of value at this point, so the Spurs are going to have to look at doing something through the draft and free agency after the season.
As for all of you that think the Spurs are boring, I am glad they are. It's called fundamental basketball and has won THREE TITLES since 1999 as well as leading the Spurs to the best winning percentage in the NBA since 2000. So, you guys can have your flashy, me-first players. I'll take my Spurs, their good attitudes and their wins.

They leave Bowen because he's their BEST perimeter defender. You can't expect him to guard every best player in the game, so if you throw him away, your Spurs are gonna suck. Finley and Horry are there for their ability to provide offensive spark off the bench. They're the reason why they took the Mavericks to 7 games last year; without them, they would have lost in 4 or 5 games. Beno is a good backup to Tony Parker and throwing him away would leave the Spurs with who when Parker gets injured?

Never... Are you serious! Bowen! You can get a huge player if you trade Bowen He has the best defence in the league, he's all defencive team every year. The other night he didn't do a great job against Kobe but it was one game. You really don't know basketball to say Bowen needs to be traded. Plus++ He's on the USA team cause of his defence and not offence.

Bowen may be bad on offense but his defense is what makes him valuable to the Spurs. I bet that you can ask any current NBA player who would be in the top five list of player they WOULDNT want to guard them in a game and i bet Bowen would be in their list. You should remember that the Spurs are first and foremost a defense oriented team.

"you know what they should trade is their boringness"

BRAVO!!!!!! The Spurs are THE most boring team in the NBA. It will be a real drag having to watch them in the playoffs for 4 games or so.

The Spurs can make trades but they won't make anything significant. Right now I see them in the playoffs but honestly, I don't see them getting past round 1. IF they get matched up with the Lakers, they're gonna lose and it's a shame because I'd like to see the Lakers lose in the first round to a team like the Suns or Mavs.

How about Finley? I really don't like his shot selection.

Fade-away shots over smaller player on the low post ?
Settling over on 3-point line ?

I think you can't trade Bowen just yet because there's no replacement for him right now. I agree that he's aging and stuff, but there is no other player with defensive capabilities like him on the market right now.
Unless, Shane Battier is on the market.
