I'm thinking about upgrading my video card, but I don't want to get one that isn't compatible with DirectX10, because I will then have to upgrade it again when games that run on DX10 start being released in large quantities. Anyway, if someone could tell me what video cards currently on the market support it, as well as price range and the amount of video RAM (256MB, 512MB, 1GB, etc.), I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

NVidia GeForce 8800GTX and 8800GTS. They are high-end cards and the cheaper of them costs over $400. They are going to release some more mainstream cards in March which should cost less and be more widely adopted. ATI is set to start releasing DX10 cards starting then too, beginning with their high end and trickling down through the mainstream in the following weeks and months.

The NVidia GeForce 8000 series and the ATI Radeon X2000 series are/will be the first generation of DX10 cards.

As others said, 8800 series, as in games..nothing. It will take awhile for the game makers to release dx10 supported games (maybe a few patches for dx10 support). As others have said, getting a dx9 will work fine enough unless you have the money to burn for those $400+US video cards.

try to be in a position to acquire a Radeon HD 6850 for that kinda funds, verify ebay, amazon and google procuring..... I have a Video card that doesnt help DX11 although i have seen DX11 gameplay, it does seem notably more effective perfect, yet no longer something that you'll bypass over...

Right now only the GeForce 8800 series support it, the GTS has 640MB and is $400-$450 and the GTX has 768MB and is around $575-$625.

because of the high price of dx10 cards now, it would actually be cheaper to get a dx9 card now then upgrade to an (affordable) dx10 card later.
