It will definitely help. Just a warning though, you can't store the world on it. I've had my 250gb for about 3 months now and after constant downloading and not deleting anything it is already full! I recommend Western Digital. Stay away from Maxtor! My last 200gb was a Maxtor and it fritzed all the time. Sometimes it would show my files as there and sometimes they would be read-only or gone completely. I had to reformat and lost years of mp3s and videos.

Yes! I would sort through it first, though. Anyone know of a good program to put MP3s on CD onto an external hard drive?

Yes, but make sure you move files from your hard drive to your external drive, because a full hard drive will slow down your computer down.

I suggest you buy a bigger hard drive and move your system to that disk. try buying pc mover programs. normally a full hard drive will cause problems specially when you need bigger space for working or temp files during normal windows operation.

But before you decide to buy a bigger disk, try cleaning up you disk a little maybe this will help. Windows have clean-up programs. Or try CCcleaner, its a free program downloadable from Download Accelerator Plus program on the new IE7. It can help you clean up.

Yes, you can either use this for additional space for new items, or transfer some of the things you don't use as much onto it and only have to plug it in when you want that content. Pulling uneeded files off your pc will also help with the speed of your pc.

Sure it can. It increases your capacity. If you want to hold more info, you need to get more space. External drives may be cumbersome, but they're cheaper, and they work just as well as the internal variety.

terrific, least confusing, guess could be to hook up an exterior USBcontinual. it particularly is slower, yet USB 2 is particularly rapid. once you place interior the newcontinual, replica previous information archives (photos, music, and so on.) out of your internalcontinual to the recent externalcontinual. as quickly as you have a solid replica on the newcontinual, delete the archives you do no longer choose from the indoorscontinual. be certain you place in MS workplace on the indoorscontinual! Even a rapid exterior disk is in simple terms too sluggish to apply for software archives.

It will help, until you fill it as well.
Delete some of your old files and you may not need an external

Yes it will. My dad put one in our computer and it has so much room in it still... it has been about a year and a half... And there are 8 people in the household constantly downloading and doing school work. I say you should do it if youa re thinking about it.
