Apparently, Sony Playstation 3 systems are not selling too well compared to the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft xBox 360. Since Sony loses money on each system anyways, than technically, that would mean a better thing... to some degree. Anyways, does anyone think that it's going to die?
Same with xBox 360. Rumours have it that Nintendo will be the last, remaining video game company. It was there since the near beginning, which means it has a lot of history and knowledge, so chances are, it might stick to the very end (if there ever is an end).

Same thing happened when the PS2 came out. It's not selling well, or appears not to be, because it's not totally available to everyone. It's just a bunch of hype and speculation. Nintendo won't be the last; the graphics aren't as good and a lot of the games are geared towards children.

Just 2 months into the console and you're declaring the Wii the winner. That's a little premature don't you think? If anything, this might be Nintendo's last leg to stand on. The GC finished last behind the PS2 and XBX. The N64 finished a distant 2nd behind the PSX. And if the Wii finishes 3rd or a distant 2nd behind the PS3, NIntendo would very well go the way of Sega and just make games for the other consoles.
The PS3 got off to a rough start, but it's the end result that matters, and most experts still think that the PS3 will come out on top, but it won't be as dominating as the previous 2 console wars. People are not buying the PS3 because there's really no good games for it (Resistance being the exception). But come this time next year, a lot of the killer games will be released or will soon to be released, and if the PS3 still isn't selling, then Sony has a problem.
The rumors about Sony and MS leaving the console business probably came from a Wii fanboy site. Sony is already talking about the PS4, and MS has probably already began plans for the next X-Box. They're not going away anytime soon.

Not so fast my friend. Sony and Microsoft is not going anywhere. The xbox 360 still has the most installed base of any 3 consoles and it outsold both the PS3 and Wii combine in December !!! People will get tire of the Wii real soon after the novelty is wearing off. Wii games are for younger people and in this day and age the Wii graphics is at least 2 generations behind the xbox 360 and ps3. All 3 companies will be making more consoles for years to come. The market is large enough to support all 3.

Are you reading in Wii fan sites? This is all false. Bad launches happen to every console. Don't worry. Wait a year or two and see. Remember, the sega dreamcast sold 10 million. Also, Sega didnt sell well because the fact It didnt get any support. Things tend to get overhyped, and the wii doesnt win because of the controller, as with pros there is cons. so wait.
Note: I own a xbox 360, but I dont think any console sucks. If you have noticed, I didnt say any console suck or was the best. Hoped this helps

These rumors and speculation are mostly gross hyperbole from people with ulterior motives.
The PS3 is powerful enough that it will be a viable platform for 5-7 years (the PS2 turns 7 years old in March). Manufacturing costs will drop, and Sony will take smaller and smaller losses on each console. If BluRay wins the format war, costs will probably drop even quicker. Sony still has a lot of muscle with it's marketing and influence over game developers and publishers. Even if it PS3 takes 2nd place in the 7th generation consoles wars, it'll still be profitable for Sony if they manage a respectable library of games.
Xbox 360 is already proven to be a viable platform, and shouldn't die off easily, barring irregular decisions by Microsoft. They're just starting development of the 65nm SOI process CPUs which will drive the costs of each console down, which they could pass on to the consumer. With a lower price point (far lower than PS3), and an already well-rounded library of games that continues to grow, 360 will be a viable platform.
Wii... Well... It's impossible to predict Nintendo. They march to their own drummer. I'm guessing it'll remain successful, even in spite of some of Nintendo's weird decisions they're known to make. It's low price and larger market appeal, in spite of it's anemic hardware specs, should keep it a hot-commodity.
Considering the current state of the market - considering all the strengths of the 3 big consoles - considering the few arguable-weaknesses of each console... I think they'll all do well. I think even 3rd place will still be profitable for that respective company, which means it's likely they'll move on to the 8th generation of hardware in the following years.
It's also unfair to drag the Sega Dreamcast into this. Dreamcast was discontinues for reasons beyond just marginal market acceptance (it was actually considered a runaway hit in Japan). Sega Corporation was in bad shape. Discontinuing the Dreamcast, dropping their hardware & arcade R&D, slowing down their software development, and merging with Sammy (to become Sega Sammy Holdings, the largest game company in the world) was part of a bigger plan... Not due exclusively to any failings of the Dreamcast.
