This is a class assignment, I can't just say "it was neat, good acting, I liked it". What should be in it? Themes? Message? Personal or global connections? Anything I'm missing here? I need help...

I would look for a student who wrote about what they thought about the movie, why they thought this, how this relates to their life if at all, major themes, any of the above really. There is nothing set in stone about what should be included but if you are writing that you liked the film make sure you write why you like it or how it relates to soemthing else you are doing. Just back up everythng you say with reasons adn you will do fine!
Good luck

I would try to cover all of the bases. I think you should start with a SHORT re-cap of what the movie was about (like 3 lines) and then write about what the message was, how it made you feel/your thoughts on it, how the acting/filming/props/locations/casting added to or took away from the overall quality of the movie, and then conclude it by giving a short re-cap of your opinion and if you would reccomend the movie to others (and maybe who you would reccomend it to).

In a personal response to movies, you should include the moral, your opinion about it, personal experiences if any, and a brief summary.
