Make sure not to wear a lot of black makeup - like really black eyeliner, and red & white eyeshadow that make you look like you walked out of the morgue. If your skin is really pale, use a bronzer to give yourself some tan color - or go get a tan. If your hair is really dark or black, maybe you could get some highlights or dye it to lighten it up.

Oh, and don't wear a lot of heavy jewelry like chains, or chokers /dog collars. No black nail polish, and no mesh stockings!!!

And if you want to wear black, that's fine - just don't wear ALL black. Complement a black shirt with dark blue jeans. If you're wearing black pants, wear or layer a light pastel-colored shirt / hoodie to fend off the darkness!

base line, in basic terms positioned on what you want and believe what you want. no individual has to regulate your life like that. in the experience that they could't settle for you for who you're, then they are no longer somewhat your "acquaintances" are they? As an aspect be conscious; so what in the experience that they imagine you're goth? Goths rule! i have continuously loved the gothic existence-type, and that i include elements of it into my on a daily basis existence (yet i do not deliberatley attempt to be goth, I in basic terms take my well-liked elements of the type and upload it to my own to create my own type :) ). Goths are often very smart, open-minded, and style-hearted. they have the uncanny ability to make certain elegance in each thing, such as issues that maximum individuals evaluate "darkish". although when you're not any further goth your self, you receives exhilaration from it for all that is well worth. although, the actual shown reality that they provide concept to you a freak because you're an Atheist is a higher project, and shows an underlying non secular intolerance (which, satirically, is component of the reason why i actually grew to develop into an Atheist). clarify your beliefs to them, and tell them it would not make you any a lot less human. desire this enables :)

You're only goth if you try to be. People say you're goth because they have nothing better to say and they don't know you that well, so they try to tell you what you are rather than taking the time to get to know you. None of this crap will matter once you graduate and go off to college.

I have the same problem!

I wore a shirt that was black and it was from a Kelly Clarkson concert. What makes Kelly Clarkson goth all of a sudden!?

Just ignore them. If you wear black, your not goth. Trust me.

Good Luck.
:]

You wear what you want to wear darl. Even if you are goth, that's not a bad thing. And if you don't want them thinking that, then do as the others have suggested and wear a little colour.

OMG i had the same problem last year! people always called me a goth. I got so annoyed but i played along with it, wore brighter colors, and it died out in no time. and they dont mean it they just wanna bug you. Don't let them know that it bothers you.

people are ephing stupid. that's all. the reason they label you in the first place is because you're still in school. ugh... school was so lame anyway because of all that crap. just don't listen to them. do what you feel like doing and wear whatever you're comfortable in. ignore them. because in another couple years NONE of them will matter. :)
peace.
