i want to go to the gym but i dont know if i can cuz i hurt my back when carryin heavy stuff.what do you think?

Well for one this sounds like me......
For 2 i for one think you should go to the doctor because you might damage it more.
It also depends on where it hurts (Middle on spine or the muscles next to the spine) if it hurts on the spine you better go to the doctor it could be serious. So i dont think you should go with ought a docs opinion

Better if you ask the doctor first. If you really do want to go to the gym, try using the machines rather than free weights as you tend to use your back more in free weights. Keep your back straight at all times and using the machines will give your back more support.

You can still work out, but not with weights. You can do things like cardio; aerobics; elyptical; exercycle; etcetera.
I, too, have back issues. Back's broken in 3 places. I only do the elyptical, but then...I'm slender.

i wouldn't work out too much because you are taking the chance of making your back worse. maybe light lifting on occasion may be ok but absolutely no heavy lifting.

dont use exercise that would suffer ur back...

asked ur physician about that!
