I'm asking b/c of this:

The volume of a certain crystal is 1.72 mm3. What is the volume of 1000 such crystals in mL?

Okay sorry for the confusion I got it now!!

yes 1 mL = 1000 mm3, here's the reason:

1 milliliter equals 1 cubic centimeter (cm3)

a centimeter is 10 mm

so a milliliter = 1 cm3 = 10 mm X 10 mm X 10 mm = 1000 mm3

No. This is like asking if 12 ounces equals a mile. A milliliter is a measure of volume. A millimeter is measure of length.

However, CUBIC millimeters is a measure of volume. One milliliter is the same volume as one CUBIC centimeter, which is (10*10*10=) 1,000 CUBIC millimeters, which can be rewritten as 1000 mm^3. So 1 milliliter does equal 1,000 cubic millimeters.

A milliliter is equal in volume to a cube 1cm on each side. 1cm = 10mm so 1.72mm = 0.172cm; therefore, the volume in milliliters is .172^3, or ~ 5.088 x 10^-3 mL x 1000 = 5.088mL. In other words, 196.5 such crystals fit inside a mL. Are you sorry you asked?

No. Milliliters are a measure of volume while millimeters is a measure of length. What you are probably think of is cubic millimeters which is indeed a measure of volume (i.e., a cube 1 millimeter on each side) and indeed 1 milliliter = 1 000 cubic millimeters.

1.72 * 1000 = 1720 cubic millimeters.

This equals 1.720 milliliters. There are 1000mm3 in one milliliter.

A milliliter is a unit of volume, while a millimeter is a unit of length.
So, 1ml=1,000mm^3. Your answer is 1.72mL

no because milliLITERS and milliMETERS aren't even the same type of measurements. a liter is 1000 millileters and measures volume and 1 meter is 1000 millimeters and measures length.

Those are two different units of measurements. One is for fluids and the other for length and such.

Huh??? litres are a volume measure.
meters are a length measure

Like asking, in the retarded English system if 2 pints = 3 miles!!!
