is direct x 10 required for for vista or is it optional

Last guy was sort of right, but messed up a few things. It is part of Vista, so it will be released with Vista. However if you have an old DirectX 9 card you can still use Vista, its not required.

Direct X 10 isn't even out yet. It will be available as an update in a few months. It may or may not be required after it releases, but until then it's not.

Edit: v you're right, I forgot to mention that it is compatible only with Vista and not XP. Still, it won't be included on the Vista disk because it wasn't completed in time.
