tips on making friends???

whole new school next year w/ brand new people.

i want to make some new friends, and i was wondering what are some tips to take about w/ new people i meet???

what do i say?

The best way to make friends is by being friendly. Yes it really is that obvious. Dale Carnegie wrote a great book, How to Make Friends and Influence People. Read it.

The best way to be friendly is to show a genuine interest in other people. Don't be quick to talk about yourself. Instead, ASK ABOUT THEM!!!
I have found it true many times. If I do nothing but ask others about their interests and lives, they chatter away. Then one of my friends hears later from the new contact that he/she found ME to be very interesting. I wasn't interesTING, I was interesTED.
Work on remembering the NAMES of new people. After meeting somebody new, make notes to yourself so you can review them the next morning. When you see that person again, address him/her by name. Then ask "How's your dog/How was ball practice/Is your momma still on your case?" or whatever that person considered important yesterday.
Dress neatly and be well groomed, but don't try to make a fashion statement. A fashion statement will undoubtably draw attention, but don't you want people to talk WITH you and not ABOUT you?
Be punctual. If you tell somebody you will see them at a certain time, don't be late and NEVER stand somebody up.
Ask questions that lead people to talk about themselves and their interests. Questions about their current jobs or expected professions are not good. (People tend to label others by what they do.) Instead ask about their favorite music or artist, favorite kind of food, pets, hobbies, etc.
Look at people with more than just your eyes. St. Euxpere stated it very eloquently in The Little Prince "What is important is invisible to the eye." btw, thats a good book for you to read too.

Just show them how cool u no not by showing off or anything retarded like that just be yourself and get involved in something where you work with other people just by being in school and stuff like that i guarantee u will make new friends it might be hard and u might feel lonely for a month or two and u still will feel homesick and miss your old friends but i have moved 5 times and have make new friends each time good luck

Hey I am good with friends and i have made a lot and i have only been at my school for about half a year

Smile and look approachable
Try not to be shy
Be open to ppl who dont seem like u
Introduce ur self
Dont be afraid to sit with new ppl at lunch
dont dwell on u being new
talk about ur self a lil but try to get to know them
dont try to hard
dont change who u truly are to be cool
if ppl are mean but cool DONT waste ur time, there are ppl there who will accept u for who u r!

perfect thanks to make acquaintances is to do what you already appreciate and allow those who share those pastimes to gravitate in direction of you. If there are any institutions, golf equipment, businesses, although, that you're in touch in, probability is your involvement there'll deliver you into contact with a number of the first real acquaintances you'll make in intense college.
