I find it disturbing that the answers on here are so ignorant... This question really cannot be answered. Most people on here come to a conclusion that since it's "Human Nature" to be violent for resources and goods that we would be more likely the aggressors, but these people are making a judgment without considering the possible aggressive nature of the alien species.

However this reminds me of something Steven Hawking once said... "When a more technologically dominate culture has met another less technically inclined, it hasn't been a pretty picture. And these cultures have all been of the same species. Humanity should hang it's head low." To add on to what "J" touched on, we're incapable currently, and will be for a great deal of time, to make serious attempts to contact other possible alien civilizations. So if contact is made, the common sense answer would be that the other civilizations will be making the contact.

So if you really want a hypothetical answer, alien civilizations would be the most likely aggressors. If humanity lacks compassion for it's less adept tribes, then expect even less to come from a completely foreign species.

Aliens wouldn't invade earth for a couple of reasons, for one earth is a primitive backwater planet with dwindling resources, second the people of earth carry to many diseases and illnesses to be of any value to them even as slaves, third humans are a violently stubborn race they would rather see the earth destroyed or rendered unlivable before they surrendered to anyone, forth human technology wouldn't even be worth there time because they would have to be century's more advanced than us just to get here in the first place, those are just a few examples of why aliens wouldn't invade earth. However humans on the other hand would most likely invade if they were given a chance by the aliens, humans are duplicitous and sneaky when it comes to there business dealings with people they consider competitors or a threat to there personal livelihood and i'm curtain this relates to aliens as well.

Well, with our current technology it would be impossible to even reach an alien planet if it exists; planets outside of our solar system are millions of light years away, and we would die before reaching them. So therefore it is more likely that they would invade us. But if we are talking thousands of years down the road, then I think that humans would invade them because of human nature. We will eventually run out of resources and will try and acquire them with whatever means possible.

Based only on our history, I would think it much more likely that we would be the invaders on an already inhabited planet. Of course we would start out friendly, but if we were to find valuable resources, the friendliness would be gone on both sides, I think.

My personal view is that if you find a planet with life on it-leave it alone.

Considering that there may be hundreds or more types of intelligent aliens, simple probability would demand that they be more likely to invade us.

i think that humans will invade aliens this will happen if humans have not learned that invasion and fight cannot solve any prob..and by that time i hope that we would learn that lesson. If not we will use our high tech weapons and will cause destruction on massive scale

I think it more likely we would invade them. Life on other planets is not necessarily intelligent; it could be some sort of blue slime.

If there is any invading to do .. leave it to Bush to do it first. Putting him aside, .. I'm quite certain that "aliens" from other, smarter worlds that ours will be here .. before we ever get to theirs. Put simply .. they will invade us first.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it an evasion but they are here and have been here for a very long time. Think about Devine Evolution.

Mathematically this could go either way. Theoretically as well. Historically if we could be the aggressor we would be especially if "they" had something that we wanted. But then again, what if they wanted something of ours?
