It is impossible for anyone to enter our small world. The adults don't understand us. They think we're childish. No one can get in our world; It has a wall twenty feet high, and adults have only ten feet ladders.

Im really bad in poetry and i need a little help. im writing an essay on this poem written by Ross Falconer, he was 11, and i need to know 2 things:

*mood and tone of the poem and how it is achieved
* poetic devices, line, how does the literary device function in the poem

the tone is resentful and rebellious.
it is acheived through negative words, especially regarding adults: impossible, don't understand, only.

You should also add that he uses this "wall" as a metaphor (since there is obviously no real wall between kids and adults)
