I have not yet read the book, nor have I seen the movie. Would someone like to give me a short summary of either? If anyone would like to recommend one over the other, I'd be glad to see comments. If anyone wants to compare the two, I'd also like to see that. Thank you (oh, I am not a student looking for an easy way--I have just been unable to rent the movie, or get the book from the library)

The novel is based on the controversial premise that there is a conspiracy within the Roman Catholic Church to cover up the true story of Jesus. The novel has helped generate popular interest in speculation concerning the Holy Grail legend and the role of Mary Magdalene in the history of Christianity. According to the premise of the novel, the Vatican knows it is living a lie, but continues to do so to keep itself in power.

if you like the movie, read the book. Book first then movie is always a let down because there is less detail.

As with most movies, I would recomend the book over the movie. The movies have to be shorter than the book so you miss out on a lot of the details and things that make it better. The book and the movie are both really long so it would be a really long summary. I'd go to sparknotes.com or something and look for a summary of the book.
