I own a 2001 Mitsu Galant V6 w/ approx 78K. This is the original synopsis of my problem.

The other day I noticed a "loping" sound as I accelerated my car through the gears. It's only when the car is under load I can hear the "loping" but not when the car is in park or when I'm at a stop (idle).

Btw, when the car is in neutral/park the motor revs fine w/out any loping.

Also when the car is in gear and I'm at a complete stop I can hear a very low level but loud harmonic resonance throughout the car (almost like very deep bass). If I put the gear into neutral/park (i.e., no load on the motor) the harmonic resonance goes away.

I have since taken the car to a transmission mechanic and he was able to pull these codes:

PO111 Intake Air Temp Out of Range
PO101 Airflow Valves Out of Range
PO107 Map/Baro Circuit Valve Low

If ANYONE can please translate what all these codes mean together I will be very thankful!

You have intake problems. A mechanic who works on these cars on a regular basis would be able to tell you exactly which component these three codes together lead to. Probably an air flow meter/mass air flow sensor, or whatever they call it on a Mitsubishi.

Take it to a shop that specializes in Japanese cars.

IAT sensor is contaminated, out-of-calibration or has failed
PCM has failed

P0101 Volume Airflow Sensor Range/Performance
Possible Causes Setting Conditions

VAF sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
VAF sensor is damaged or has failed

call a Mitsubishi parts dept. and ask them how much a map sensor costs? i think that's your problem, mass air flow sensor. if i remember correctly, it probably costs around $300 + for the parts.also you might be able to call a junk yard a get a good used one.

Hoe is the egr valve itself? Can you take a long Socket extension and push in the valve? I had this happen last week and ended taking the egr off and cleaning it out with carb cleaner.I put it back in and cleared the codes. Problem solved for me anyway.....Steve

the only thign that come to my mind is tha You have a vaccum hose from intake manifold to transmission loose and subsecuently leaking.
transmission modulator in Your car?
I AM NOT SURE.

automatic tranny? ........ isn't it?

it wont hurt to check for vaccum leak.look for a hose that goes from intake manifold to the transmission

pretty much that means the valve body in the transmission is faulty. get it replaced and you should be good
