No. You shouldn't have that many process running on your pc at anytime even if it's a network PC. Some of the process are just taking up resources and can be shutdown. Check out the sites below for instruction :

Depends on the speed of the processor, amount of memory, what processes they are etc. But that is not an usually high number.

If you are concerned, do a Google search on each of the process and identify them. You will probably find some you can shut down without harming the computer.

Yes, depending on how much memory you have. I have 66 processes running on mine (stupid firewall and anti-virus protection programs have several processes that need to be running at all times), but I have 1 gig of RAM, so I still have ~500MB of free RAM. If you have >1 gig of RAM, 55 processes is nothing.

Btw, I have a laptop, so a lot of processes relate to their mouse pad, sound devices, and wireless internet. The fact that my computer still runs fast tells me that I could care less if I have 20 processes or 60 processes, as long as I have the memory to keep it fast.

Sure.
I have over a hundred processes running.
Well really only a couple are actively running. The rest are just nicely sitting there idly waiting in the background to be used and abused.
Though I'm running Linux.

Not really, but it depends on what they are for. Hit ctrl+alt+delete and select the processes tab to see what all is running. If you're running the computer for gaming and need more open RAM, go to the find tool, "Windows+f", and look up msconfig.exe. Open it up and go to startup tab. De-select everything in there to make the computere faster.

P.S.
I run 21 procceses most days, and my computer works like a charm

Yeah, if all of them are useful for something. I have 56 processes running on mine right now. Use process explorer to check them if you suspect foul play.

It depends how much memory you have, if there is a good amount, then your computer should be fine.
