a whole new theater in a town 20 miles away but it would defininitly compete with your theater for audience members and volunteers. ...We're talking small towns here folks.

It's fine.

There is always room for another theatre troupe!

As long as you don't schedule plays on the same dates, you shouldn't have any trouble - it might even get more people interested and your audiences increase!

Whether or not his theatre would be "competition" would depend on the type of shows the put on.
