The test was over 48 hours and a couple times hit 4.7 - however the average is 2.7. Is this normal? Safe? Should I be concerned about the result peaking at above recommended levels?

Consider yourself lucky. Anything below 4.0 is considered safe by the EPA. I have seen numbers in the 20's & 30's. Areas near where I live have been in the 400's. Go to www.radon.org or www.epa.gov and read info there. Good luck.

There are several good websites that explain what the numbers mean to you. Depending on what part of the country you live in radon levels will be different. As far as safe, that is a tough question. Some will say that any amount of radiation is dangerous and could cause health problems. Like I said, there is some great reading on the subject, just type in radon.

4 is the US level for safety. I would get one of those Radon Eating Machines, plug it in, and be safe.
