Someone I know can't get off of the computer. If he is not on the computer, he is upset and won't do anything else. he doesn't like to read or anything else. All he does is play games on the computer. What do You suggest?

Like any addiction, the addict must see that they are addicted and want to stop...otherwise you are wasting your time.
Talk to him about the situation.
Have him set reasonal limits on his computer use.
Take him away from the tempation and give him something else to do. (movies that he likes not you, sports events, bowling, skating..just to name a few)

I had this same probablem.
Whoo internet/computer/game addictions.
What I did was realize I was addicted, you probably want to take a hinting road or be blunt yet kind at the same time. There's nothing worse then someone forcing you to get off the computer when your in the middle of something entertaining.

Try bribing your friend like, if you get off the computer for so and so hours you may go on for so and so hours.
Make it reasonable, but this must be done AFTER they agree to the fact they want to solve the addiction.

Hope this helps some-what, it did for me.
:D

Edit: This isn't just a quick thing to solve, it takes weeks or months even just like any addiction.

go on their computer and block the games. it's like when an alcoholic detoxes, but in this case a gaming addict would detox. I know he may think it's mean of you to block it, but not being able to play them will break his addiction
