You can't take a deep breath because of sharp pain, and it's hard to turn over in bed. They can't put a cast on it, but it helps to wear something tight around the chest to make movement less. If it breaks with very little pressure you can feel the " bump" like when someone does a Heimlich maneuver wrong... (happened to me). If the injury was from something like a car accident or fall, though, a rib could be poking into another organ like a lung and could do much more damage.

I'm on my moment holiday at the equal rib. A rib belt rather is helping, it feels so, so well whilst your ribs are squeezed tight, they cannot transfer and motive ache. Take deep breaths slowly and more commonly to avert pneumonia which might be a residing hell with a damaged rib. Other than that, you'll be able to study what you'll be able to and cannot do as a way to aid with the medication. It can be approximately 3 to 4 weeks earlier than you'll be able to get again to ordinary, (no holiday dancing!) Take it convenient and chill out, sit down or lie down whilst your house. It's a well time to be a sofa potato. Good good fortune :]

Yes and no. Some bones break an you may feel little or no pain. The only way to tell is to get an X-ray. It may hurt to touch and you may not have a break just a deep bruise. Good Luck, Go see your DR.

If you stood up or stretched, it'd be too much.
If you kneeled over a toilet, the pain would be unbearable.

Also, it is very sensitive to touch a broken rib.
