DO NOT FEED it bugs or meat. They need 45% leafy greens like collards, mutard greens and dandilion, and the need 45% some kind of orange squash the hard the better, green bell pepper, green beans, peas, etc. and 10% fruit like figs dry or fresh, and berries. This Website was recomended by my Vet please check out the diet and also care and housing pages Iguanas are very difficult animals. Good Luck, take good care of it.

Like most of the other people have said on here is that Iguanas need Dark Leafy Greens, Like Romaine, Collard, Dandellion, and Mustard greens. Do NOT however give them Tomatos. Tomatos contain certain kinds of acids that can kill your iguana. You shouldnt give them Citris either becuase it is highly acidic. Bananas are good once in a while as too much potasium isnt good for them, grapes, carrots, squash (cooked), alfelfa sprouts, these things are all ok for your iguana. But again no tomato, citris, spinach, and small amounts of bananas. If you need any other questions answered about your iguana e-mail me at xrose_of_shyronx@yahoo.com.
Thanks and enjoy.

Iguanas should be a strict vegetarian and should not eat meat of any kind that you buy at a grocery store the best thing to feed them are collard greens mustard greens dandelion the darker the green the better for them but do not feed them spinach,Also mine loves squash sweet potato and the flower from a dandelion and if you can find then cactus leaves. To keep them healthy what you feed them the timers on there lights and the amount of sunlight should be kept on a exact schedule.
Check out Melissa Kaplan's web site it is the best.

young iguanas like some animal protein (crickets, mealworms, etc...) and leafy veggies and chunks of some fruits and berries. Adult iguanas should only rarely be fed animal protein, and mostly leafy green veggies, fruits and berries. Avoid iceburg lettuce, stick with the dark greens. Here's a good chart at this URL...
