My dr said I'm have either threatened abortion or incomplete abortion. (I've been bleeding heavily with clots) He said if I haven't miscarry already there is a great chance that I will soon. IF I have miscarried then some parts are stil inside of me. He said there is also a chance that I will carry the baby the full term and give birth to a healthy baby. I am going to a specialist tomorrow and get an ultrasound. By the way I'm 7weeks 4days pregnant.
I was wondering if anyone had the same experience and found out the baby was fine?

yankee...
What do you mean that dr make things up to kill innocent babies? Threatened abortion and incomplete abortion are medical terms. They are not actual abortion...they are miscarriages. I'm not getting an abortion. My body is reacting that way naturally.

foxinsox...
thanks for your throughtfulness.
I am actually very worried about losing blood. It is getting worse by the hr. Actually around at week 5 bled alot too..also with clots. Ever since I've been spotting, bleeding, spotting bleeding. Now it's bleeding so much that everytime I go to the bathroom I am afraid to look down because there would be a pool of blood with a fist size mount of clots. But the scariest thing is not the blood or the mount of clots...I'm scared that I might see the embryo.
I'm getting an exam and an ultrasound today. I know the chance is very low but I'm still hoping to see a little heart beating.

To everyone who gave me real answers...Thank you very much for your encouragement and for sharing your stories.

I'll def update later when I get back from the dr.

First, I'm so sorry.

I spent almost 2 weeks on bedrest at a12 weeks because of one instance of heavy bleeding and clotting that lasted a week 1/2 after that (though it was brown ((old blood))).

I looked up this information for you. I don't have any advice-but I am now at 17wks1day... it sounds as though your bleeding is more constant-mine was ALOT for an hour 1/2 and then some more red for 6 hours and then just brown spotting/clots.

A co-workers daughter in law has been bleeding (she's due 2 weeks before me) and is on bedrest for the remainder of her pregnancy due to a rip in her uterus and is causing her to bleed all the time (she was 13 weeks at the time).

The information:
Background: Threatened abortion is a clinically descriptive term that applies to women who are at less than 20 weeks' gestation, have vaginal spotting or bleeding, a closed cervical os, and, possibly, mild uterine cramping.

Pathophysiology: Threatened abortions may progress to inevitable, spontaneous, incomplete, or complete abortions.

Threatened abortion

Vaginal spotting or frank bleeding is very common and is experienced in approximately 25% of clinically apparent pregnancies at less than 20 weeks' gestational age. The bleeding and pain that accompany threatened abortion are not usually intense. Threatened abortion rarely manifests with severe vaginal bleeding. Often, the bleeding is temporary and self-limited and possibly due to trophoblastic implantation within the decidualized endometrium.

Approximately half the women with threatened abortions abort, and the remainder continue to have viable pregnancies. Approximately 15% of clinically recognized pregnancies spontaneously abort, and 75% of the losses occur in the first 8 weeks of gestation. The loss rate is estimated to be 2-3 times higher with very early and, often, clinically unrecognized pregnancies.

Threatened abortion is defined by the absence of passing/passed tissue and the presence of a closed cervical os. These findings in the setting of a known or presumed viable pregnancy differentiate threatened abortion from later stages of abortion.

**to the people who didnt' bother to do a search before being so rude-it is a medical term!**

I was told with my daughter at 13 weeks that it was a threatened miscarriage. It is a term that they use when everything checks out fine with the pregnancy, but there is still bleeding that is unexplained.. Come to find out I had a blood clot in uteral, and that is where the bleeding was coming from. My daughter was perfectly safe. I delivered her at brought her home at 34 weeks.. I am now pregnant with #2 and at 18 weeks was told once again that it was a threatened miscarraige because I was bleeding for unknown reasons.. They did an ultrasound to assure everything was fine, and it was.. The baby's heartbeat was perfect.. Your baby should be fine.. And yes when you go in for your ultrasound on Wenseday you will get to see the heartbeat.. Dont stress it can cause more problems that you dont need.. Sex can bring on bleeding and that sounds like that is what has happened in your case.. Medical terms always make it sound worse then it really is.. You should have recieved papers that explained to you how they came to diagnose you with a threatened abortion and what steps to take to insure a healthy pregnancy.. My wishes are with you.. I know how scary it can be after going through it with both of my pregnancies..

If u are bleeding heavy like this with backache and cramps then it is almost a fact that it is an impending miscarriage...If it is bleeding and clots with no pain at all then u could be ok and I suggest u stay off of your feet until the bleeding stops (bedrest)..Did they do an ultrasound,if so then u should have been able to at least see a heartbeat...I have had a miscariage in the past and had very very heavy bleeding and lots of clots with a lot of pain and backache...I did not have to have a d&c,the doctor gave me a prescription for the medications to take to clear everything out which worked fine..Pray about it and rest,if u notice any pain at all go back to the ER...Good Luck!

Dear Chocolate~

Good luck with your specialist. Please keep an eye on the heavy bleeding...if it gets to be where you are soaking pads..please go to the e.r.

I had a similar experience...but unfortunately for us..that child was meant to be an angel. Since then...we have had a wonderfully healthy boy...and are awaiting another healthy baby.

I hope all works out for you...

********edited 1/19 I am shocked at the ignorant, insensitive responses to this VERY serious and VERY emotional question!

This girl is looking for REAL answers, REAL comfort and does not need *nuts* sharing their uneducated opinions!

That said...Chocolate...I had two miscarriages. With one the doc had wanted me to do the d/c. I didn't want to...because I still thought I had a baby...we were leaving to go away for the weekend to be alone and think...when I started bleeding heavily.

I was in the shower unable to get out emotionally, physically and for the bleeding. My husband shoved a diaper (we had another child at the time) where it needed to be and raced me to the hospital. They did the d/c and thank goodness they did. I was hemmoraging and they said if I had been 15 minutes later I may have needed a blood transfusion. Much later than that ~ then our older son would have not only been without a sibling..but without me as well.

So please pay attention to your body and your doctor.

That said...I have 2 HEALTHY children and one on the way. I have had bleeding with all of my pregnancies. My first pregnancy I thought I was in menopause because of the "odd" periods for a few months. So bleeding CAN happen during a healthy pregnancy..

Stay off your feet. Get a vaginal ultrasound. Listen to your body, doctor and husband....and know..that none of this is your fault.

Good luck.

The fact that you are bleeding is bad. You may have miscarried. If so you will be set up for a D and C they will put you under and clean you out. The pain you will have after wards is like your period. It is common. Good luck I hope all is well.

Well, I had a friend who had heavy bleeding early on in her pregnancy, and we all thought she would miscarry. Her son is now three years old and she just had a little girl a couple of months ago. Good luck to you, and blessings!

i have had the same experience and i would love to tell you that it all worked out, but it didnt..i unfortunately had a miscarriage and needed a D&C to remove the remaining parts left inside of me...it is truly one of the hardest things that has ever happened to me in my life..my only advice is to pray and realize that if it does turn out for the worse that its not your fault..it just wasnt meant to be..and just because you have one miscarriage doesnt mean that you can never have kids..i have a beautiful daughter that i am so thankful for...good luck honey and try not to stress out to much...not good for you or your baby

Yes I was 7 weeks at the time. Had my baby girl on her due date, with no complications. I hope it works out for you.

My friend, here's something you should know about. Of all those claimed to be "misformed and miscarry" babies, 70% of them are just made up by the doctors because they want to get money by kill an innocent life.

Beside, the women's health cannot be ralated to baby's life. What is at stake right now is your health (may be) compare to your baby's life.

Oh, my friend. I'm not saying that you are going to get an abortion, I'm saying that you should not get an abortion unless you are going to die.

If you chose to have an abortion, they wouldn't do it halfway, and then stop.

You either have a possibility of having a miscarriage, or you already had one. Plus, there are women who have their period during their whole pregnancy.
