First of all my roommate is a gay male and my best friend. Since we are so close and do live together, I wouldn't want to do anything to alter our relationship. However, I have the biggest crush on his younger brother (I'm 2 yrs his senior) and my roommate despises his brother. Therein lies the problem. I just need to know, if it would be wrong of me to pursue this relationship? And if my roommate were to get upset should I just tell him to deal with it?Any suggestions on how to break this to my roommate would be welcomed.

In your first sentence (after the question) you mentioned that your roommate is your best friend. Since best friends are supposed to be friends through thick and thin, you should be able to talk to him about this. Just be straight up with him and let him know you kind of have feelings for his brother, and that you at least wanted to be straight up with him and be honest and let him know about it - that you want to get his thoughts on the matter and if you could get his "blessing" to perhaps see where it could go. If he doesn't support it, then the ball is back in your court. You have to decide what's really important to YOU. You said something about telling your roommate to just "deal with it". But really, if he's not going to be cool with it, you'll need to decide what's more important to you: Your relationship with your BEST FRIEND... or exploring a POSSIBLE new relationship with someone you don't even know (that well). What if it doesn't work out? Now you've lost at that opportunity AND you've lost a best friend.
Classic risk/reward. Is it a risk you're willing to take. This boy had better be damn fine to be worth it. :-)
Good luck.

If you're are really good friends with your roommate, he probably would get over it. Whatever you do, don't lie to him, especially if you do have a relationship with his brother. That is a slighlty awkward position though. Are you sure you like his brother? What makes you're roommate dislike him? If you value your relationship with you're roomate much more than with his brother, I would try to forget his brother

your roommate is not your keeper, so go ahead and date his
brother and he will just have to deal with it.
