Depends on the crime. Many people think that if a person is old enough to commit a very serious crime such as murder then they are old enough to be treated as an adult and tried as an adult. In reality a 14 year old's brain is usually not equipped to fully understand the consequences of a crime like murder and probably should not be tried as an adult.

i see two variables that should contribute to whether or not a 14 yr old shouble tried as an adult. the first variable is the severity of the crime. the second is if they are a repeat offender. if they have done something really serious then i say yeah. however, if they do something kind of minor or not quite as serious then the first time i say no. then if they turn around after they get out of jail and do the exact same thing again then they should be tried as an adult. some people have to learn the hard way.

Although a 14-year old seems so very young that does not mean he or she is capable of doing an adult crime. I heard from a movie (Lord of War) a phrase (pardon the accuracy), "A bullet from a 10-year old is just as effective as that of a 40-year old."

No.Im 47 and when I think back at myself at 14,I was still learning. You can not make right decisions all the time when you are still in the progress of growing. When someone that young commits a crime, you got to take in consideration how they are brought up and their surroundings, and what they are taught by their parents, if they have any parents.

If they commit a serious crime they need to be treated as an adult. They should be a teen if they want to be treated as a teen.

Yes, because as it is now, gangsters are using them to further their cause. Because those early teenagers will not be punished as severely as adults, and people did not pay too much attention to them. On the contrary they were regarded as innocent kids so they did not defend themselves when those cute looking kids approach, and only found it when it was too late.

No, because some 14 year olds haven't completely developed a part of their brain that controls impulsiveness.
