Yes, its okay to leave your computer on standby. I have left my Windows XP on standby for two-three days a couple of times and nothing was wrong with my computer. Standby is basically a low-power mode so you can quickly resume your work on the computer without having to boot up your computer every time.

Companies have computer servers running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I guess you'll mostly have to worry about the costs of electricity.

But there are other risks of course:
1) Increasing the computer's wear and tear.
2) Fire hazard in the case of faulty electric wiring.

Its okay, but sometimes if you have things running while you leave it on standby the next day or so itll become laggy and will need a reboot.

it is not a count of "could" yet extremely your desires to depart it grew to become on or off. once you're downloading something vast (a movie document to illustrate) and it will take the completed night to do it, its greater useful to depart it on the completed night or till the acquire finishes. merely turn off the computer screen and all different peripherals not mandatory for the downloading operation (printers, scanners, etc) before you pass to mattress. I depart my pc on all of the time (with my video reveal instruments and peripherals off) when I easily have vast downloads or uploads, or whilst Im changing a great video document into yet another format. I make it a factor to close down my pc basically when I have no operations like those pronounced working in it. electrical energy utilization should not be a controversy in case you turn off the computer screen and peripherals all of the time for the period of operations.
