Huh? Are we talking about the same Temecula?

Hardly scary at all. How about Fontana? Now that's scary. Gangs as bad as LA. But back to Temecula.

A friend of mine moved there a few years ago, and it is a huge growth area. The schools are nice, because so many are new, and there's money coming into the school district. What a nice change of pace from Los Angeles USD, where there are actually full-time painters on staff who do nothing but paint over grafitti. Sad, but true.

Sure, the houses tend to be made from the same mold, cookie-cutter style. But that means they're big, and have big yards. You can get a lot for your money out there.

OK, it can get hot out there in the summer. And you don't have all the entertainment options of LA or San Diego. But those cities have been in existence for over 200 years, a pretty good start over Temecula. There are a few places to go in Temecula, some shopping centers and theaters. For adults, there's the Pechanga casino. But there is a very nice fishing and boating lake about 15 minutes away. LA, San Diego, and the beaches are about an hour away. Sure, it's not next door to the waves, but it beats the Radar O' Reilly Beach Club in Ottumwa, Iowa!

Overall, I'd say it would be a good move if you could get a job there. You can get a lot more for your money. And you don't have the traffic and smog of LA.

I live in nearby San Diego and Temecula is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it is a good sized city and not too far from the ocean, its about an hour down to San Diego and an hour to Los Angeles.

Temecula is scary.

It's over-planned and has an intense feeling of yuppy suburbia. While the homes are new, they all look pretty much the same and are trapped in HOA's. The strip malls are pretty much the same as well. There's a lack of activity - it misses all the things San Diego has, like the zoo, Balboa Park, the beaches, etc.

I have a friend who lived there. They never really liked it, and I hated having to visit because there was no where and nothing to do.
