Love is friendship set on fire,Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it...It really is worth fighting for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk everything, you risk even more.
The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even Heard, but must be felt with the heart.

Love doesn't care who you are or what you do or even what you look like. Love is indiscriminate. Black, white, Asian, or Spanish. Arab, Russian, or European. Love doesn't care. Love could give a damn. The only thing that matters is that it's there and will always be there. Love will eat you alive and spit out your soul. Raise your spirits and devour your being. Love is ruthless. Love is relentless. Love cares not of the pain it will bring. Nor does it care for the joy. Suffering, elation, sorrow, happiness, guilt, relief. They are all involved in love. Nothing can define love. Man defined love as an object and an action. The object: an intense feeling of tender affection and compassion; to feel tender affection for somebody. It seems that man is still a bit flawed in trying to define what love truly is. Love is not a feeling, it's something much more, much higher than just a feeling, because unlike all other feelings it will not fade in the slightest. Pain can be felt but soon after will not be as intense. Happiness can fade about the fastest. One slight mishap will make happiness dissipate. One will probably have a different aspect of love for someone rather than it just be gone. Love cannot be defined as an action either. Far too many quickly mistake lust for love. Love is a state of being rather. A high plateau that everyone would like to be on. Something that everyone would like to strive for, but can hardly ever be truly reached. Love is not something you can drop on doorstep. Love is not something that be showed. Love is something that someone can only be. A higher state of being. Love can do so many things to a person. Love can make a perfectly sane man go crazy. Love can make the worst behaved man become the perfect gentleman. Love can push a man off a mountain; yet help him to climb back up again. Love is far too confusing to try to define or make sense of. Rather, I would like to just be in love than try to explain what it is.

I think you will find this rather fitting. This is Paul the Apostle writing to the Corinthians on love.
1 Corinthians 13
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body *to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

I'm not religious, but I've always liked this quote from the Bible...(I haven't read it...it's just one of the famous quotes)
Love is patient; love is kind
and envies no one.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
never selfish, not quick to take offense.
There is nothing love cannot face;
there is no limit to its faith,
its hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things
that last forever: faith, hope, and love;
but the greatest of them all is love.”

There is no right answer to that question. There are very different answers on this page, but in all reality, Love is what you make of it.

I thought I knew what love was and loved it and took it for granted.
I put hubby and my kids first at all times, I lived for my family!
They where my world!
Then my husband cheats on me after 23 years and now I find myself asking this question!
He says he loves me, but he cheated on me! This is not love towards me is it?
Sorry cannot answer your question, but join you!

This is love: not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son as the one who would turn aside his wrath, taking away our sins.
