I agree that it's just this giant red herring. No matter what we find out IT DOESNT MATTER!

EVEN IF it were a choice, it should be a choice that we should be allowed to make without the legal repercussions that we have.

That said, its NOT a choice, so because there's nothing to be done about it, it certainly doesn't really matter where it comes from.

Firstly to the guy above who thinks morality didn't exist before the 10 commandments...You crazy Christians, you crack me up.

Now onto the question:
Many people want to establish that homosexuality is an innate, naturally occuring sexual orientation. They want to do this in order to scientifically prove that it is not a sexual perversion any more than heterosexuality is.

This is important, because with this established, and made widely known, Christians will have to accept that it is perfectly natural, and something beyond willful personal selection, thus making it not a sin.

This would also mean that the 'curing' of gays, as practiced by extreme Christian groups, is in fact a crime against nature. In exactly the same way it would be to force, or otherwise coerce a heterosexual man into a homosexual act. If a condition is proved innate, it is proved to be as nature/God intended. There is no sin without free will, if a sexual orientation is innate, it is not free will that guides the homosexual, it is a physiological reaction as a result of nature, as opposed to nurture, or perversion.

In short it is important to many people, Gay and Straight, because they want to highlight yet another hypocrisy in Christian ethos, and finally prove that the Bible couldn't be the direct word of God, because a supreme being couldn't possibly make that many errors.

Not all christians are bad just the bigot ones. When my friend who's very christian discovered I was gay she was so nice about it and she said it was fine and she'd love me no matter what, I don't really need a reason for homosexuality either. I would probably not agree with anything that came up. I just am this way, they should find out the reson people are straight :) That'd amuse me.

Because it's hard for some to accept that their children are gay and there is nothing they can do to change that when they want their kids to have normal lives, thinking that will make them happy. It's even worse for people that lie to themselves and deny parts of themselves, keeping it secret, because they don't feel that they can, or aren't brave enough, to be open like that. Then you have the Christians and mental health fanatics that cannot accept anything without a reason behind it. Heaven forbid a person actually finds another person attractive and desirable for not only the physical, but those subtle qualities unique to each sex.......anyway, I'll stop here.

I think many people do look into why they are Christian, or at least they should. I sure did. And what is wrong with trying to understand what makes people the way they are? That doesn't mean you will want to fix it, or that one's value with be any greater or less, it just means we have more understanding. No matter what, people should be respected whether they are gay or straight, Christian or Atheist, white or black, etc. Unfortunately, your disrespect will only bring about and cause similar feelings to be returned to you. I think ignorance (which you say is good) is the major cause of disrespect. Let us all respect and work together, putting aside any biasis or preconceptions. We are all equal.

Truth be known, the reason has always been known...

In the book of Romans, 1st chapter.. the answer is spelled out as plain as day...

Read it some time...

I am not homophobic... I try to love all people. But if a homosexual person saw someone murdered in the street for their car or their sneekers, even they would call that behavior evil... Why is that?

Because we all know that murder is evil. How did we all come to understand that truth!

It came from the Ten Commandments.. so even if a person did not believe in God their conscience bears witness that they know what is right and what is wrong... God helped us to know this truth...

Likewise, when a homosexual person says that their behavior should just be accepted, and that it is not wrong or evil, that is like a murder saying people should just let him kill, and live as he wishes, and that the laws should be changed or ammended to protect the style of life he chooses.

All I am saying is this; if we agree with God that murder is evil, how can we disagree when "He" says that homosexuality is also evil, or that lying, lust, greed, hatred, sex before marriage, adultery, and other things like this is also evil...?

Sin is spelled out in the Bible along with Righteousness, we have free wills so we make our choice as to whom we will serve by the life we live... It has and always will be God or satan, blessing or curse, heaven or hell.. even if we choose not to believe any of it or just the parts we like...

God loves the homosexual, the murderer, (the apostle Paul was a murder, King David was a murder and adulterer,) We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God... that is why Jesus died for each of us... No one is beyond redeeming, through the blood of Christ, but through unbelief and rebellion, some scorn and trivialize salvation... and that's quite frankly, DANGEROUS!

The ones who say I had no choice in the matter, are saying, "God, you are my maker, and you are a liar!!"

Take heed---Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; whatever a man sows, that is also what he will reap. Wheather sin that leads to death, or righteousness that leads to life..

Even the most scholarly arguments throughout the ages, could not and never will, deminish the Truth.

Because even when they knew God they did not honor Him as God.......but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened....(check this out in Romans, chapter 1)

Then check out (1st John 1:9... it's just that good)

Actually the real question is why do so many "Paulists" call themselves "Christian?"

I think the very real issue of religious abuse or should we call it faith molestation is something that needs to be addressed more!

They're interested because they want to find out why homosexuals have that perversion.

They want to know what's wrong,

mostly because of curiosity i guess

They don't want to hear about how people became Christians because, well, maybe they think something like "What's God done for me?"
