I'm looking for a new job. Job agency that I use sent me a decription that seems to be a little of everything I've done in the past and looks like something I would enjoy. Hubby says its over my head don't be surprised if I don't get it. What in god's name is he thinking?

so far most are good answers...keep 'em coming.
Just for the record I do currently work and he often tells me I'm under paid for what I do. If I quit tomorrow he'd give birth to kittens.

He's probably afraid that you will gain your independence from him. He is probably saying that to dissuade you from getting that job because he is insecure himself. If you want it...go for it. the only person that is stopping you is you. But don't wait...go for it now before the position fills up. Besides...if you are not happy with it you can always get another job through the agency. Right? Just do it.

Read between the lines, he doesn't want you to change jobs and he wants you to listen to him. He pets you in the wrong way, he should be praising your desire to make the change. Let him have the kittens or you'll be trapped forever. Listen to your instincts and good luck!

You don't say if your husband doesn't want you working in general or what.
It could be he is just saying this to prep you for the possibility you won't get the job.
You say it is a new job, so that means you are working already, so that means you are trying to better yourself. OK. So I say go for it. You have as much of a chance as anybody and if you don't try for it, you sure won't get it.
Go for it!! And hey, good luck!! We are batting for you!!

Does your husband want you working? This may be how he feels and at least he is being honest about it.... Why does he feel this way? Ask him why... He may just be trying to caution you so you wont be dissappointed if you dont get the job and for some reason it does not work out.

I would go for it, just because he is insecure and wouldn't be able to do it doesn't mean you can't. I think he's afraid of you moving up in your career, it might make you feel more independant.

He'd not like you to do this job due to sense of insecurity.

Well, perhaps he sees something you don't... That it *might* be a bit over your head. He didn't tell you not to try, did he? There's nothing wrong with being realistic. Good luck.

I don't know. He certainly didn't seem to be all that supportive, it seems.
He could have worded that differently. Encouraged you to go for it, but been there for you in case you don't.
