I finally lost enough weight to fit into my "good" clothes, but now feel they're either out of date, or too young for me (I'm about 40) What's your opinion? Toss or keep:
Sweater dresses (like giant sweaters that go past my knees- baggy. Wear belted over jeans or give it up?)
Dressy-type Skirts 2-3 inches above the knee.Am I too old? They aren't exactly flattering.
Skirt-suits with shorty-short skits (Think Heather Locklear in Melrose Place)- keep the jacket, toss the skirt?
Giant blazers- look droopy but brand new! Toss?
Shift dresses 3 inches above the knee.
Wool "business" skirts (I work from home, so useless but..)
I've been "saving" these things for 5 years, and now that they fit, they look somewhat ridiculous. Hate to toss, but.... do I go from formerly chubby to fashion dork?

The shift dresses are kind of "dressy"- like what you'd wear to dinner back in 1997- fully lined and dark colors.

lol. :) it's amazing, but u can probably dress each one of those up well or get them tailored to fit better!! or u can start all over, which i think is fun and easier too.. hehe..
but w/ the sweater dress, that is coming back in. definitely wear it Belted, w/ a wide belt at the waist. however, u might wanna get some leggings or nice tights to wear, and nice pumps. past ur knees?? that's pretty long...... maybe u can hem it a bit? OR wear w/ really high heels, that can be cute.
as for giant blazers... =T that may be good to give away to charity!
skirt suits.... yeah no one really wears those skirt/shorts, but u can keep em around in case u go on a cruise or something. :) or to the beach....depending on the material. but something casually dressy
shift dress...? that can be cute.. i guess i need to see it...
wool skirts. .no need to throw away. u may need a skirt for certain occassions, whatever it may be.
get a nice button up white blouse, either tuck in or leave outside and add a wide belt at the waist, and a nice fitted black jacket over, and u have a cute style!! :) make sure to also get some nice, cheap jewelery like long necklaces so u can "dress up" the old outfits!

Congrats on the weight loss!!
My advice is look over the clothes closely. If it is a classic cut and it can be updated with a few accessories then keep it. If it isn't flattering or something you aren't comfortable wearing then to donate your clothes to Goodwill, a women's shelter, or some other charity. You could also check into some consignment shops to see if they will take the clothes.
Adding a comment to your follow up "The shift dresses are kind of "dressy"- like what you'd wear to dinner back in 1997- fully lined and dark colors."
If they are fairly classic in cut and you just think they are a little too short see if you can find a tailor/seamstress. Maybe they could update them along the hem of the dresses, either in a contrasting color or same color differenct fabric. You can then find a cute dressy jacket or wrap to wear with the shift dresses.

congratulations on losing the weight! i would say keep the sweater dress because they are popular now. get rid of the skirts because they aren't flattering. keeping the suit jackets sounds like a good idea i would recommend tossing the giant blazers. keep the shift dresses and wool skirts they sound ok. you should donate the clothing to big brother big sister or other organizations like that. they always take donations. good luck!

you're mind-blowing you may desire to not might desire to decrease weight to this element absolutely everyone. If that man or woman does not decide to this element you as you're then they are actually not properly worth it sluggish because of the fact there'll continuously be somebody who's slimmer than you're. i don't know the place you're assembly human beings, yet how approximately assembly extra human beings. in case you won't be in a position to discover a guy in a p.c.. of a hundred human beings unfold out to one thousand. Do you recognize what i'm saying? i know men who ask out women human beings purely because of the fact she's respiratory. He can get shot down a hundred situations yet get 5 numbers. what's extra significant to him the nos or the yeses?

you could wear the sweater dress with a belt and leggings and some espadrilles. if the skirts aren't flattering, don't bother! you should take youreslf shopping because you deserve it! if you think it looks good, then you should wear it, but if you don't think it looks good, then you should toss it.

I would say keep all of your clothing because you never know what might come back into style...or you maybe able to fit them again one day, and it wouldn't be good to throw them away cuz you never know when you might need something to match something else you have...I say never throw old clothing away unless its just worn out :)
