I always see cops turning on their lights to run a red light then turn them off and pull in to a gas station or something. No emergancy just impatiance...why is this legal?

Not always is this the case.sometimes they are dispatched to an in progress call and so they start going lights and sirens and either they are canceled because other officers arrive first and they are no longer needed, so they get off the road. How do you know it is not an emergency. No its not legal and yes they can get in trouble you can get their car number and report them to their sergeant if you think they are doing this to avoid stopping at a light

They run red lights and talk on there phone's because maybe when they are talking on the phone they are talking to another cop cause they are looking for bad guy's or girl's. And when they run a red light they might be chaseing a bad guy or girl cause they are trying to find them.

They are hungry for doughnuts!!!! It isnt right for them to abuse the law..... but more people abuse the law every day then cops do. Everywheres I go I see idiots on their cellphones weaving all over the road, cutting in front of people and driving wrecklessly..... it is illegal in KY to drive with a cell phone stuck to their idiot unemployed head!!! I just cant believe how many stupid people I encounter every day....

since you seem to see it ALL the time, next time follow the officer into the gas station and make a citizens arrest on him/her.

Its not. If you are sure of what you saw, get the cruiser #/plate # and call in to your local police station.
Its very wrong.. and it sends a heck of a message to the citizens in the area..

probably not legal but who is going stop them. although in some states it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving.
